Aim of the Position
To effectively manage the human resources of Ruaha Catholic University (RUCU) so as to optimize productivity, and employee satisfaction in a bid to achieve the Vision and Mission of RUCU.
Responsibilities
To propose, coordinate, interpret and review policies in relation to human resources management for the University.
To develop and review personnel procedures, manual and other documents such as Terms and Conditions of employment and Scheme of Service.
To act as University Management's advisor on matters relating to human resources management, compensation, labour relations and legislation.
To protect the University from departures from acceptable practices in human resources management with recommendations as to the appropriate action to be taken.
To be in-charge for processing applications for recruitment, interview, selection and placement, in consultation with deputy Vice Chancellors, Dean/ Directors and Heads of Departments.
To consult with Deans / Directors and heads of Departments to process evaluation forms for staff review submission to Appointments and Promotion committees.
To consult with Deans / Directors and heads of Departments to process confirmation of appointments of employees.
To consult with Deputy Vice Chancellors, Deans/ Directors and
Heads of Departments to process all type of leave entitlements.
To keep up to date statistical records of all University staffing position as a tool for human resources planning.
To submit regular report on University staffing position as a tool of human resources management.
To identify and manage training and development needs for employees.
To develop and implement HR policies and procedures.
To handle employee complaints, grievances, and disputes.
To administer employee discipline processes.
To conduct exit interviews.
To maintain the human resource I information system and employee database
Maintain knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting HR functions.
Education and Experience
1. Degree in HR management, business administration or equivalent
2. Knowledge of the principles and practices of HR management
3. Knowledge of relevant legislations and regulations.
3. At least 5 years' experience in a similar position
4. Knowledge of computer'

Description
Senior Legal Officer - one vacancy
Aim of the position
To guard and protect RUCU by providing high level legal and policy advice on matters of relevance to Ruaha Catholic University (RUCU) vision and mission; undertake high quality legal work in all aspects of RUCU operations, ensuring development and implementation of the relevant policies including, through quality control processes; provide legal advice and support particularly to RUCU staff and offices; and develop and manage legal projects.
Key responsibilities
Lead in the provision of high-level legal and related policy advice and analysis in fields of expertise.
Negotiate and write agreements arid contracts on behalf of FJCU.
Offer counsel on a variety of legal issues.
Advise the Top-Management in RUCU on legal-related issues.
Identify and monitor emerging legal developments and key concerns relating to fields of expertise.
Conduct and oversee significant research into legal issues in fields of expertise.
Write, edit, and finalize reports, opinions, correspondence, articles, and other documents.
Develop and implement strategies for the promotion and implementation of
Policies laws mat enhance the image and standing of RUCU.
In collaboration with other organs of the University, identify and develop legal projects and fundraise for those projects; provide proper management of relevant budgets and meeting of reporting schedules, including effective liaison with resource originating organizations.
Represent RUCU in court sessions and arbitration and mediation sessions.
Project development and Management
Work closely with the Vice Chancellor, DVCAA, and DVCFA, to take lead in developing projects proposals, and seeking fund, and manage projects implementation.
Develop for approval legal policy, particularly in emerging or complex areas of education, particularly tertiary education.
Ensure consistent application of law-related policy across the organization, including by contributing to quality control functions.
Develop and maintain RUCU's policy database.
Other duties
Contribute to the development of RUCU's strategic and operational plans.
Draft and/or edit relevant materials for publication.
Undertake any other duties as may be assigned by the Management.
Skills, Experience, and Other Requirements
Commitment to TEC & RUCU philosophy and objectives.
Holder of at least Master degree or higher in Law with at least 5 years of relevant experience as an Advocate.
Licensed and practicing advocate.
Good legal analytical skills.
Excellent speaking and writing skills in English and Kiswahili, including the ability to draft material in a variety of styles, for different audiences and within tight deadlines.
Ability to work under pressure, without administrative support.
Basic computer literacy.
