FAMILIA KWANZA PROJECT
Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences together with Medical
University of South Carolina were granted funds and ethical clearance to
conduct a study entitled “Patterns and Risk Factors of HIV and Non Communicable
Disease Comorbidity in Urban Tanzania- Exploring the Potential for Family Based
Interventions. This study is planned to be undertaken at Muhimbili National
Hospital, both CTC and Diabetic clinic and will involve patients and their
family members.
The first part of the research took place in the period of July to
September 2017 and successfully completed. The project is now entering its
second phase and will focus on family members interview and interventions. Data
collection will take place between January and April 2018.
POSITION: Field qualitative interviewer (Ethnographers) - 2 Positions
Reports
to Research Coordinator and research team leader responsible for the activities
related to qualitative data collection
Main Duties:
•
Conduct interview
•
Locate, Recruit and Interview
participants
•
Conducting assent and informed
consent for study participation
•
Implementing data collection as
per project protocols
•
Performing data collection using
digital recorders with consent from respondents
•
Add field notes to interview
transcripts and fill out daily debriefing notes
•
Reviewing all transcribed and
translated interviews for data quality control and assurances
•
Reporting social events and other
adverse events to team leader and Project coordinator
Requirements:
•
Minimum education - degree in social sciences or
public health or other related fields
•
Good verbal and written
communication skills in Kiswahili and English
•
Basic skills in qualitative
research.
•
Strong critical thinking and analytical abilities
•
Strong team player and High
attention to detail
•
Ability to use Microsoft office
programs such as MS word and MS Excel being helpful.
NB: Successful candidate will be required to attend training prior to the
commencement of the field activities
POSITION : Research Assistant (Nurse) – 1 Position
We are
currently looking for a competent person
(Registered Nurse) to work with us on the second phase of the project.
Duties:
•
To collect biological investigations to the study
participants
•
Providing Health education to the study
participants and answer questions from research participants
•
Implement informed consent and other research
ethics procedures,
Requirements:
•
Minimum education – At least a Diploma in Nursing
•
Good verbal and written
communication skills in Kiswahili and English
•
Basic skills in biological
investigations
•
Strong critical thinking and
analytical abilities
•
Strong team player and High
attention to detail
•
At least three years’ experience
POSITION: Community Preparations Research Assistant – 1 position
Duties:
•
To prepare logistics and all forms of communication
with participants during data collection
•
To contact possible participants and their families
Requirements:
•
Minimum education – At least a
Diploma in social sciences or public health or other related fields. A degree
will be an added advantage

Good verbal and written communication skills in
Kiswahili and English
•
Strong critical thinking and
analytical abilities
•
Strong team player and High
attention to detail
