JOB VACANCIES AT NATIONAL YOUTH INFORMATION CENTER TUNDURU



 

                                                                          

National Youth Information Centre (NICE) is a local non-governmental and non-profit organization formed and registered in 2001 under Trustees’ incorporation ordinance of 1956 (cap 375) thereafter was awarded with NGO’s compliance certificate number 0768 in 2008.

The organization has the vision of building Tanzania with youth that are healthier, educated, functioning and with their human rights are respected. NICE empowers youth to make informed decisions about all aspects of their lives through the provision of information in the form of Training, Research, Advocacy, Publications and Documentations.

NICE whose head office is in Mbeya, has been implementing a comprehensive integrated care and support program for vulnerable children and families. It also implements evidence-based interventions on HIV prevention, HIV adherence support, and family planning to key and vulnerable populations (KVPs) in Mbeya region.

In collaboration with the Ministry of Health Community Development Gender, Elderly and Children (MoHCDGEC) and the President's Office Regional Administration and Local Government (PORALG), NICE is implementing comprehensive community based HIV and AIDS prevention, Care and support program in Tunduru and Namtumbo Districts in Ruvuma region. This program is financially supported by the US President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) through Henry Jackson Foundation Medical Research International/Walter Reed Program Tanzania (HJFMRI/WRP-T).

NICE is looking for highly motivated and self-driven individuals to fill 2 vacancies for its HIV/AIDS project in Tunduru and Namtumbo Districts of Ruvuma region: Program Coordinator, and, CBHS Focal Person.
 
1. Position:     Program Coordinator

Location:        Tunduru District, Ruvuma Region

Reports To:   
Executive Director

Job Summary:
The Program Coordinator will be in charge of all technical aspect of the program and responsible for project planning, implementation, monitoring. The coordinator will ensure that the project meets required scopes in a manner consistent with the organization requirements, work plans and resources allocated to the program.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the primary contact between NICE management and Board of Directors, donor organization, government officials on program matters.
·         Take lead in planning, implementing and evaluating activities undertaken by the organization;
  • Support key staff and volunteers on developing scope of works, work plans, and budgets for implementation of the program activities
  • Under the guidance of the Program Director, coordinate other team members to maximize the implementation of NICE strategic plan for the purpose of achieving program goal, objectives and targets on HIV/AIDS project.
  • Oversee and participate in monitoring and evaluation of program activities; ensuring high quality program data are collected from the project sites.
  • Provide timely and quality updates to the Program Director on the status of development and implementation of community based HIV and AIDS intervention program. 
  • Work closely with project accountant during program planning, implementation, and financial reporting.
  • Ensure timely compilation of quarterly, semi-annual and annual reports of the project activities implemented including submission of the monthly reports to funding agency
  • Effectively and accurately communicate relevant project information to the stakeholders, government and donor organization
  • Maintain clients’ information with confidentiality
  • Represent NICE in forums at local and national level
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Executive Director.

Academic qualifications, Knowledge and Technical Skills:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field (preferably Social Work, Public Health, Sociology, Psychology or Community Development); post graduate trainings in a relevant field will be an advantage;
  • A minimum of 4 years field experience in community health service delivery and quality improvement
  • Experience working with Tanzanian government structures including the MOHSW, PORALG, RHMTs, CHMTs, ward and village heath teams on community health service delivery
  • Have demonstrated experience in providing quality technical assistance to Community based service providers
  • Oral and written communication skills in both Kiswahili and English
  • Ability to write reports
  • Strong motivation and leadership skills, ability to multi-task in a dynamic working environment;
  • self-motivated team player with ability to work independently
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office and Internet)
  • Ability to ride a motor cycle will be an added advantage (Driving license is a compulsory requirement)
  • Experience of coordinating USA’s government funded projects will be an added advantage.

Report to:       Program Coordinator
Job Summary:
CBHS Focal Person will be responsible in the scheduling and implementation of Community HIV/AIDS Based Services (CBHS). He/she will addreess any issues dealing with the implementation of Community HIV/AIDS Based Services to ensure that activities are carried out efficiently and effectively.
Duties and responsibilities:
·         Assist the Project Coordinator in designing and planning the implementation of community based HIV/AIDS services strategies and interventions as per approved work plans and budgets
·         Assist CBHS Providers to build technical skills in HIV Care and Support, and strengthen their capacity to improve the quality, effectiveness and efficiency of community based care and support services.
·         Implement evidence based prevention strategies and interventions as per work plan.
·         Assist CBHS Providers in developing monthly work plan and reports, in accordance with approved reporting formats and timing.
·         Assist CBHS to build technical skills in HIV prevention and strengthening their capacity to improve the quality, effectiveness and efficiency of prevention services.
·         Provide on-going support in monitoring CBHS program and preparing of CBHS monthly reports to submit to the relevant bodies
·         Assist in ensuring successful referral and linkages of identified HIV Positive clients
·         Assist CBHS providers in tracing Lost to Follow Up (LTFU) HIV clients 
·         To visit and strengthening PLHIV Support groups, 
And any other duties as may be assigned by the superior

Academic qualifications, Knowledge, Technical Skills and Experience:
·         Diploma or degree in Social Work, Community Development,   HIV&AIDS Care and Management, Clinical Medicine, Nursing, or any other related field
·         Experience of at least two (2) years in HIV& AIDS programming, care and management, preferably in an NGO setting
·         Computer literacy in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint are required
·         Must demonstrate sound training expertise and ability to coach and mentor field officers
·         Must demonstrate good oral & written English and Kiswahili communication skills
·         Should be a team player and able to work under minimal supervision
·         Ability to ride a motor cycle  will be an added advantage (Driving license is a compulsory requirement)


Terms of Employment:
·         Full time salaried position
·         Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
One year contract to all positions renewable upon successful performance
