POST:FARM MANAGER

Farm for the Future is a large 651 acre farm in Kilolo District. It is a regional development project run in cooperation with local authorities in the Iringa region of Tanzania. The key focus is to deliver a commercially driven, viable farm, which will also provide vocational training in agriculture for youth, local farmers and young single mothers. To support the sustainability of growth of the farm into the future, jobs will be created through food processing and any other “value add” opportunities that present themselves as the farm develops.
Our ambition is to start farming in 2018 and build the new buildings in parallel with fundraising over the coming 3 years.

Academic Qualifications and Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree or Masters in Agriculture,
• Excellent Computer Applications Skills
• Class C driving license
• 5 years’ experience in Farm Management with a documented track record of results achieved.

General Qualifications

Male/female with Farm Management experience.
• Basic knowledge of managing Farm Finance.
• Knowledge and experience with farming Maize and other Grains.
• Good knowledge and experience of both Dairy and Beef Cattle Management
• Excellent People Management Skills with proven ability in team building
• Highly motivated, self-driven with the ability to drive initiatives to achieve goals
• Have a dynamic approach to identifying new opportunities while adjusting existing farm
practices to create efficiencies in production.

Key Program Management Qualities
• Culture building: To be successful in this role the person must have the ability to build a culture of inclusiveness where every manager, team leader and worker feels equally valued. Everyone on the farm including management should be prepared to step in to perform whatever job is required to meet the agreed goals.
• Networking: Be passionate about the project and build positive messages with a network of partners, customers, suppliers and government agencies, in order to learn and obtain the best possible results.
• Regional Development Awareness: Have a clear understanding of the value of the role of the farm in contributing to the Regional Development of the area. While focusing on profitability, a key focus must be maintained on creating jobs and adding value to the products grown.
• Training and Mentoring: Identify opportunities to develop the skills of children, young people, young single mothers and local farmers to increase their knowledge of farming. Organise and schedule suitable training modules from the agreed curriculum to increase awareness of the value of these skills to the community.
• Reporting and Presenting: As Farm Manager you will be required to create reports and present in a professional manner to provide the Board with a clear understanding of current achievements, a vision for future growth opportunities and clear plans of how these might be implemented.
• Field work: It is essential to work and live 100% on the farm, being fully involved and committed to the continuous process of development.

Remuneration
Competitive salary and benefits will be offered to the successful applicant related to qualifications and experience.

Work Station: Farm for the future, Image road, Masukanzi hamlet, Ilula Ward, Mazombe Division, Kilolo District, about 47 Kilometres East of Iringa Town, about 3 kilometres from Ilula Township and the Tanzania-Zambia Highway.

Ilula Orphan Program (IOP), will be the majority owner of the farm. IOP provides education, homes and life skills to Most Vulnerable Children, Youth and Women for the purpose of making them become self-reliant and responsible citizens of Tanzania.
