TANZANIA REINSURANCE COMPANY LIMITED (TAN-RE) 

Tanzania Reinsurance Company Limited (TAN-RE) was established in line with Section 70 of the Insurance Act. No.18 of 1996.The Company was dully incorporated as a limited liability company under the Companies Ordinance CAP.212 in 2002. TAN-RE has been registered to transact reinsurance business in respect of the following classes of business: all non-life insurance business including marine and aviation business, all life assurance business including pension business. 


The company is now inviting suitably qualified Tanzanian candidates to fill the following positions. 

1. Job Title: Assistant Accountant -1 post 
This position calls for a young, competent, attentive to details and qualified person of high integrity. The Assistant Accountant will report to Chief Finance and Administration Officer through Accountant - Technical. 

Qualifications and Experience 
Candidates applying for this post should have the following minimum qualifications: 

• Must possess a bachelor degree or its equivalent in Accountancy from a recognized institution or Module D of NBAA or its equivalent with three (3) years relevant working experience in an insurance or reinsurance company. 
• He/She must be Computer literate. 
• Possession of CPA or a Certificate in CII will be an added advantage. 

Duties and Responsibilities 
➢ Maintaining accounts for both inward and outward business; 
➢ Liaising with both cedants and retrocessionaires on matters pertaining to their accounts from time to time; 
➢ Posting transactions into sun system and RMS 
➢ Processing mandatory policy and treaty cession accounts returns 
➢ Performing monthly reconciliation of cedant accounts with respect to policy cession and treaty returns 
➢ Posting entries to cedants and retrocessionaires accounts; Maintaining receipts and cash books, coding and batching receipts and payments from cedants/ retrocessionaires and ensuring that they tally with the cash books; 
➢ Verifying the inward and outward accounting forms; 
➢ In-puts data from statements of accounts received from ceding companies into computer for processing, and producing and running computer reports as per requirements; 
➢ Performing any other relevant duties as may be assigned by seniors. 

2. Job Title: Underwriter -2 posts 
Candidates applying for this post should have the following minimum qualifications: 

Possess a Bachelor's Degree or its equivalent or Advanced Diploma in Insurance and Risk Management from a recognized institution plus ACII or its equivalent with 5 years' experience in Insurance / Reinsurance Company or should possess ACII or its equivalent with 7 years relevant experience in an insurance/reinsurance company. He/ She must be Computer literate. 

Duties and Responsibilities 
➢ Solicit and receive treaty and facultative business offers and analyze them; 
➢ Preparation of renewal and new business quotation proposals. 
➢ Review facultative acceptances regularly ahead of renewal and review treaty acceptances annually and analyze treaty slips 
➢ Reviewing the debit/credit notes and cover notes to ensure they are correctly raised; 
➢ Preparation of closing slips and endorsements; 
➢ Updating facultative, policy cessions and large risks registers on a quarterly basis; including risk apportionment; Ensuring the proper processing of all technical transactions; 
➢ Ensure appropriate maintenance of all relevant documentation; 
➢ Following up on outstanding facultative premium closings, on outstanding policy cession and treaty statements; 
➢ Market visits; 
➢ Provide market information, statistics and reports as and when required; 
➢ Ensure that risks pertaining to the underwriting function are identified, assessed, treated, monitored, and communicated in an iterative manner in line with the company's risk management policies and guidelines; 
➢ Performing any other relevant duties as may be assigned from time to time by seniors
