The Hertie School of Governance is
offering a limited number of scholarships to exceptional applicants.
These scholarships are available for pursuing Executive Master of Public
Administration (Executive MPA) in September 2017.
The Hertie School of Governance is a
German private university with the right to confer doctorates in
Berlin’s Friedrichstraße. Half of the students in the Hertie School come
from abroad, and the working language is English.
Applicants whose first language is not
English are usually required to provide evidence of proficiency in
English at the higher level required by the University.
Degree Level: Scholarships are available for pursuing Executive MPA programme at the Hertie School.
Available Subject: Scholarships are awarded to study the subjects offered by the university.
Scholarship Benefits: The scholarship covers the complete tuition fees.
Central and Eastern European Scholarship:
The Executive MPA Central and Eastern European Scholarship is worth
29,500 EUR and covers the complete tuition fees for the Executive MPA
programme at the Hertie School.
CommIO Scholarship: The
Executive MPA CommIO Scholarship is offered in partnership with the
Auswärtiges Amt (German Foreign Office) to one exceptional candidate
each year. Worth 29,500 EUR, the scholarship covers the complete tuition
fees for the Executive MPA programme at the Hertie School.
Public Service Leaders Scholarship:
The Executive MPA Public Service Leaders Scholarship is worth 14,750
EUR and covers 50% of the tuition fees for the Executive MPA programme
at the Hertie School.
Social Entrepreneurship and Non-Profit Management Scholarship:
The Executive MPA Social Entrepreneurship and Non-Profit Management
Scholarship is worth 14,750 EUR and covers 50% of the tuition fees for
the Executive MPA programme at the Hertie School.
Women in Leadership Scholarship:
The Executive MPA Women in Leadership Scholarship is worth 14,750 EUR
and covers 50% of the tuition fees for the Executive MPA programme at
the Hertie School.
Eligibility:
Central and Eastern European Scholarship:
The Hertie School of Governance invites professionals from all sectors
of central and eastern European countries (including the Western
Balkans) as well as from NISPAcee member states to apply for the Central
and Eastern European Scholarship for the next programme start of the
Executive Master of Public Administration (Executive MPA) in September
2017.
CommIO Scholarship: The
Hertie School of Governance invites German professionals from
international organisations or European institutions who are registered
with CommIO to apply for the CommIO Scholarship for the next programme
start of the Executive Master of Public Administration (Executive MPA)
in September 2017.
Public Service Leaders Scholarship: The
Hertie School of Governance invites professionals from the Public
Sector (including national and state administrations, international
organisations and European institutions), who bring leadership
experience or proven leadership qualities, to apply for the Public
Service Leaders Scholarship for the next programme start of the
Executive Master of Public Administration (Executive MPA) in September
2017.
Social Entrepreneurship and Non-Profit Management Scholarship:
The Hertie School of Governance invites social entrepreneurs as well as
managers in the Non-Profit Sector, who bring leadership experience or
proven leadership qualities to apply for the Social Entrepreneur and
Non-Profit Management Scholarship for the next programme start of the
Executive Master of Public Administration (Executive MPA) in September
2017.
Women in Leadership Scholarship:
The Hertie School of Governance invites female professionals from all
sectors, who bring leadership experience or proven leadership qualities
to apply for the Women in Leadership Scholarship for the next programme
start of the Executive Master of Public Administration (Executive MPA)
in September 2017.
Nationality: International students can apply for these scholarships.
College Admission Requirement
Entrance Requirement: The Executive
Master of Public Administration is aimed at professionals from all
sectors. Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- A good higher education degree in any discipline (typically, Executive MPA participants have a background in business/economics, law, social science or natural sciences)
- At least two years of relevant work experience (average is ten years)
- Proficiency in English
English Language Requirement: Applicants
whose first language is not English are usually required to provide
evidence of proficiency in English at the higher level required by the
University.
How to Apply: Applicants must complete the online application form. Applicants must upload the following documents:
- Curriculum Vitae (in English or German)
- Letter of motivation (in English or German, preferably in English – two pages or 900 words maximum)
- Copies of official academic transcripts and diplomas of all attended universities. Every transcript must include a transcript key (an explanation of the grading system). If these documents are not in English or German, the applicant needs to provide us with a certified/notarized translation into English or German. Hard copies are not required until after acceptance into the programme.
- Two letters of reference (in English or German, or: a certified/notarised translation into English or German), of which at least one comes from the current or your last employer of the applicant. The other one can also be issued by a referee from academia. Applicants who undergo an annual performance evaluation by their employer can replace one of the reference letters with this document. The Hertie School may decide to contact the referee(s) to confirm the authenticity of the issued document(s).
- Reference letters can also be sent to us by the referee directly, either as an email attachment to executive-applications-at-hertie-school.org, or via regular mail to Hertie School of Governance Executive Degree Programmes, Friedrichstr. 180, 10117 Berlin, Germany.
- The reference letter should be on official letterhead (if applicable) and include an original signature. Contact details of all referees should be listed in the “References” section of the online application module. Reference letters can also be handed in after the application deadline.
- Reference letters are not requested from candidates nominated/dispatched by their employer after passing an internal selection process in their organisation.
- English proficiency certificate (for non-native English speakers, if applicable)
