JOB DESCRIPTION OF A SHIFT CHEMIST/ SUPERVISOR

1.         ROLE AND FUNCTION

    Supervise the factory process operations throughout the shift ,liaise with shift engineer on technical and mechanical problems and maintain process flow, production standards and shift discipline amongst section personnel.

2.REPORT TO :  Process manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 1.Ensure the effective and efficient operation of all process sections throughout the shift in order to meet the target production set through the following :

a)     Coordinate for constant juice and steam flow to process.

b)     Correct juice temperature and pH

c)     Ensure optimum operations to achieve minimum sugar losses in filter cake and molasses.

2. Inspect each production stage at the start to the end of shift checking and recording material stock levels and performance attained .

3.Monitor production and process procedures throughout the shift resolving difficulties and ensuring that correct operating practices are followed.

4. Advise the Shift Engineer of all stoppages and breakdowns agreeing the necessary corrective action  where possible anticipate and prevent such stoppages.

5. Supervise the proper and accurate completion of shift records at each production station , and complete the production report for  the shift.

6.Instruct and train subordinates in the correct work procedures  and maintenance of records.

7.Maintain proper level of discipline, house  keeping and safety among shift employees.

8.Report timely all breakdowns for quick  repairsand unsure that all stand by units are in operating conditions.

9.Performs any other official duties as may be instructed/assigned by your superior from time to time.
