COMMUNITY-BASED CONSERVATION PROJECT IN THE UDZUNGWA MOUNTAINS
Job title: Environmental Education Officer (Project: “Udzungwa: a forest for all”)
Job summary
“Udzungwa: a forest for all” is a community based project working with communities residing in the eastern part of Udzungwa Mountain National Park. The project is funded by the the Italy’s Trento Autonomous Province and managed by Association Mazingira and Italy’s Trento Science Museum (MUSE). The project is looking for a suitable Tanzanian to fill the post of Environmental Education Officer. The position is responsible for the teaching of environmental education in primary and secondary schools.
Job duration: 1 year but subject to renewal
Requirements
Form four or six. Certificate of any environmental related field is an added advantage
Good computer skills in Microsoft word and excel
Proficiency in English language, written and spoken
Ability to take initiatives to complete tasks assigned and flexibility
Positive attitude and self-motivation
Bike riding necessary
Excellent communication skills
Ability to team working
The environmental education officer will be directly employed by UEMC( Udzungwa Ecological Monitoring Centre) and will be based full time in Mang’ula village, close to UMNP head quarter and will be reporting to Project Coordinator of Association Mazingira
Responsibilities and Tasks
Plan, implement (teach) and monitor the environmental education programme in schools
Preparation of didactic manuals, posters, leaflets
Writing monthly reports
Organization of school trips and events
Implementation of sensitization events, such as radio campaign and night projections
Work cooperatively with project stakeholders (UMNP, village chiefs, VEC, district officers, common people, students and teachers)
