About us:
Orkeeswa School is a community-based secondary school located in Monduli District at Orkeeswa village an under-served Maasai community in rural Tanzania. It was established with the aim of providing quality, affordable education to under-served children in Monduli District and other surrounding areas. Currently the school is serving 229 students from Pre-form One to Form Six and 56 students who are in higher learning institutions. Through collaboration with local leaders in the community we have developed a model of holistic education responding to specific needs of our students and their community.


About the role (responsibilities):
Prepare, implement, deliver and assess lesson plans, schemes of work and lesson notes as may be required
• Prepare holistic learning activities for students encompassing plans for class time, homework and other extra-curricular studies
• Prepare and supervise examinations, collate examination results and prepare reports for students in relevant subjects.
• Supervise students during school hours, extra-curricular activities, sporting activities and field trips. The teacher may be required to accompany and supervise students on excursions that are over-night or longer
• Actively contribute to the development of OSS and foster a sense of pride and achievement in OSS and its students.
• Actively seek information to maintain awareness of up to date professional skills and subject knowledge
• Attend and actively participate in school and organization meetings and professional development activities
• May be required to work outside school hours and on weekends/school breaks/public holiday
• Undertake travel if necessary for school/organization or professional development activities



Who we are looking for:
• Bachelor degrees in education teachers are desired but carrier qualifications are more sought after.
• Teacher’s carrier must be specialized in History/Kiswahili, Chemistry/Biology or B.Ed. specialized to any of those mentioned subjects
• Teachers with creativity and critical thinking
• We prefer to hire a teacher with minimum of 2 years experience of working as teacher in any recognized institution where he/she worked as a full-time teacher
• The teacher must be able to teach both Ordinary Level and Advanced Level in a particular subject

Cultural fit to work with Orkeeswa team he/she must have the following qualities:
• Must have pursued Bachelor Degree/Diploma in education in a specific subject
• Knowledgeable on a particular teaching subject e.g.: should have at least ‘C’ and above in both Advanced Level and Ordinary Level as well as university/college
• Must be fluent in speaking and writing English
• Must be ethical, well disciplined, appropriate dressing code and energetic
• Should have a good rapport with students
• Must be talented, creative and a critical thinker
• Must be a team player
• Must be flexible, positive and proactive
• Must be passionate with the work or organization in general
• Well rounded and able to work with various technologies

Orkeeswa secondary is located in Monduli District at Orkeeswa Village 6 kilometers away from Monduli town

Any travel required:
This job might require you travel within and outside the country from time to time. Please ensure that when you sign up for this job you will be required to travel at any time depending on the school needs.
Is there anything special about the working hours?
Working hours start 08:00 am to 04:10 pm; teachers may be asked to teach Saturday o holiday classes occasionally. Additional activity time occurs during the school day from 4:10 – 5:30

Probation Period?
This is job is permanent however it requires 3 month probation period including classroom observations before you are fully employed by Orkeeswa Secondary School
