Job Description


We are looking to recruit most experienced Pharmacist, our client is one of the world’s leading pharmaceuticals company in Tanzania.

DEPARTMENT: SUPPLY CHAIN DEPARTMENT

REPORTS TO: DIRECTOR OF SUPPLY CHAIN.

JOB PURPOSE

Ensuring quality purchase of drugs and equipment, keeping up to date with current pharmacy practices, new drugs and their uses. To oversee safe storage of drugs and assist company in registration of drugs and medical items. Coordinating between TBS and our company to ensure samples of various pharmaceutical products has been collected on time, tested and tracing test results. Supervision at warehouse of the storage facility, monitoring stock movement in terms of expiration dates. Supervises the process of repackaging of various products.

INDICATORS OF GOOD PERFORMANCE OF THE JOB
• All pharmaceutical import permits are valid and in place.
• Good relationship with TFDA/TBS ensuring that the company enjoys smooth operations.
• To ensure the registration application of various types of applicants has been well managed, completed on time and progress feedback has been shared to manufacturer of product.
• To ensure that quality of drugs and equipment procured are safely stored as per the good practices required by TFDA and manufacturer.
• Equip Programs with day to day information related to pharmacist activities to assure awareness of activities.

KEY DUTIES
• Helping Reproductive health to procure quality drugs and equipment, keeping up to date with current pharmacy practice, new drugs and their uses.
• Overseeing the ordering and safe storage of medical products
• Representing the company at all meetings concerning the quality of drugs.
• Assists the company in registration of drugs and medical devices.
• Coordinating between TBS and the company to ensure samples of various pharmaceutical products has been collected on time, tested and tracing test results.
• Working with the Ministry of Health and social welfare through regulatory authorities such as Tanzania Food and Drug Authority and Tanzania Bureau of Standards by following available procedures on management of drug supplies, importation, etc.
• Provide information and make recommendations about new orders and purchases (pharmaceuticals).
• Input to the program QA system in support for quality branding of all the medical equipment.
• Support with sourcing of the relevant market information to support the procurement of the various medical equipment and commodity needs for the program
• Support the program during the developing of the procurement plans for the medical supplies/commodities
• Support the program on implementing the franchise program with the ADDO network including recruiting and training the ADDO, provision of the IEC materials and ensure successful execution of the program activities
• Support the role out of the franchise in the ADDOs through provision of the technical support to the medical detailers on IMCI drugs.
• Supervision at warehouse on the following areas:
o The quality of drugs that is stored in the warehouse.
o The storage condition of drugs, i.e. quality of storage facility.
o Monitoring stock movement in terms of out of stock products and expires.
o Supervising the quality of repackaging process and final product for family oral contraceptives and all medical consumables
• Working according to legal and ethical guidelines to ensure the correct and safe supply of medical products

EDUCATION QUALIFICATION
• Degree in Pharmacy.
• Certified pharmacist by the Tanzanian Board of Pharmacist

WORKING EXPERIENCE
• 2 years of experience working in similar position is preferable

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English and Kiswahili.
• Strong Computer knowledge MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access, MS PowerPoint and Internet Basics.
• Fast learner with strong initiative and ability to work independently and in a team
• Efficient in time management
• Ability to work with different people and different environment.
• Ready to learn from others.

COMPETENCIES
• Knowledge on pharmacy practice
• Ability to facilitate the registration of medical products.
• Ability to work with team and various department in different environment
• Person capable to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Person capable of supervising packaging and safe storage of medicines.
• Ability to advice the different stakeholder on procurement of health related products.
