ORGANIZATIONAL DESCRIPTION:
The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is an International Non Governmental Organization that responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises and helps people to survive and rebuild their lives. In Tanzania, the IRC is supporting refugee program in Kigoma Region. The IRC is providing services in Nyarugusu, Nduta and Mtendeli refugee camps in Kigoma region. The IRC support to refugees and asylum seekers including services under the following programs: Community-Based Rehabilitation (care for disabled), Child and Youth Protection and Development, Women Empowerment/Gender-Based Violence, Reproductive Health, Mental Health Psychosocial Support and Education.

Position: Clinical Officer
Location: One of the sites (border entry point, Nduta camp, Mtendeli camp or Nyarugusu camp) in Kigoma region Reports to: Medical Officer in Charge
Number of Positions: Four (4)

Job Summary:

The IRC seeks to recruit qualified, energetic and committed Nurse Midwife for the IRC Tanzania in one of its working sites in Kigoma region.

Key responsibilities

a. Counseling and provision Family Planning services
b. Conduct health education on family planning and reproductive health.
c. Provide Clinical care for survivors of sexual assault.
d. Provide ANC, PNC, Intra partum care
i. Conduct antenatal care services - Physical examination; counseling on birth plan, child-spacing, nutrition and breast feeding; IPT; LLITN distribution; administration of Tetanus toxoid, hematinic and de-worming.
ii. Conduct deliveries at the health facility level, while being able to detect early signs of abnormalities in both the mother and the baby and taking appropriate action.
iii. Perform Post-natal services, Physical examination; administration of Vitamin A; counseling on child-spacing, nutrition, child health and exclusive breast feeding.
e. Provide abortion care for mothers who come with threatening, spontaneous and inevitable abortions
f. Carry out Growth Monitoring services on children less than five years.
g. Manage essential drugs and medical supplies efficiently.
h. Carry out any other duty that will be assigned by your supervisor or as need arises

Requirements:
a) Registered Nurse
with strong midwifery and family planning background,
b) Holder of a diploma in nursing from recognized institution and valid license from TNMC
c) 3 years’ experience in clinical work especially maternal and child health care
d) Ability to validate and interpret health data
e) Ability to work independently and as a collaborative team member;
Fluency in English and Kiswahili
